چکیده
Abstract Diversifying cropping systems by increasing the number of cash and cover crops in crop rotation plays an important role improving resource use efficiency promoting synergy between ecosystem processes. The objective this study was to understand how combination diversification practices influences performance arable sequences terms grain yield, weed biomass, nitrogen acquisition a temperate climate. Two field experiments were carried out. first 3-year sequence with cereal or legume as crops, without undersown forage legumes legume-grass followed crop. second experiment 2-year crop, subsequent For time, combined identify plant-plant interactions spatial temporal scales. results partly confirm positive effect diversifying cereal-based including sequence. Legume had on yield one experiments. Using faba beans both no biomass N cereal. In composed mixture, grass consistently increased after legume, compared cereal-preceding However, differences proportion mixture did not influence conclusion, these support that diversity across scales can contribute resource-efficient production enhance delivery services, contributing more sustainable systems.

Milk and Beef Production in Temperate Climates
Milk production in the temperate climates accounts for 66% of the world milk output. In North America only about 20% of beef originates from dairy herds, while in Europe beef production is a by-product of dairying. Several studies showed small genetic correlations between milk and beef traits, thus suggesting the possibility of simultaneous selection for both .characteristics. European breeding...
متن کاملAdaptation to temperate climates.
Only model organisms live in a world of endless summer. Fitness at temperate latitudes reflects the ability of organisms in nature to exploit the favorable season, to mitigate the effects of the unfavorable season, and to make the timely switch from one life style to the other. Herein, we define fitness as Ry, the year-long cohort replacement rate across all four seasons, of the mosquito, Wyeom...

Maximizing P removal with cropping can increase regulated Pbased manuring rates or reduce soil test P in manure-enriched soils. The potential for increased P removal with winter forage–corn silage double cropping was evaluated in a 3-yr study at Parma, ID. Winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), and both winter and spring genotypes of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and triticale (3Triticosecale Wittm...
متن کاملPhenology of temperate trees in tropical climates.
Several North American broad-leaved tree species range from the northern United States at approximately 47 degrees N to moist tropical montane forests in Mexico and Central America at 15-20 degrees N. Along this gradient the average minimum temperatures of the coldest month (T (Jan)), which characterize annual variation in temperature, increase from -10 to 12 degrees C and tree phenology change...
